Yanet is a Cuban-American writer who spent most of her twenties living in Havana, principally in Vedado and Centro Habana, and who returned to Miami in 2018 after her grandmother got sick. She still goes back four or five times a year and writes about the island in the form she has settled into over the past several years — first-person, scene-led, slow, honest about what she sees and what she doesn't know. Her work has appeared in Spanish-language outlets across the diaspora and in a handful of English-language magazines that publish careful writing on the Caribbean. She lives between Miami and a small apartment in El Vedado that has belonged to her family since the nineteen-sixties.
